A glimpse into Christmas

After nearly four days away from the internet, I realized I needed time to break bread with my best friends, hold my cousins’ little babies, chow on copious amounts of fried fish and simply veg out with those that mean the most to me.

This was the best Christmas. Ever.

The best girlfriends I could ever ask for.

Where are my treats?

I don't have baby fever. But I love these nuggets.

How cool is this? Photos for family to take home.

Christmas present destroyed in 2 minutes.

Classin' it up!

Dean wasn't this excited when he opened the iPad I bought him 🙂

I received more than I could have asked for this Christmas…including a new blog design!

Happy Holidays, bloggy blog friends.

Don’t mind my dust…

I hope to have a new and sparkly site up soon!

Jump Back Ball

I’ve always wanted to attend the Jump Back Ball at PlayhouseSquare but never mustered up the courage to drop the coin. I’m fairly certain I’ll bite the bullet this winter since I’ve heard time and time again it’s a party that can’t be missed!

This past Friday night at a little girls get-together, a fashion show ensued due to our host owning multiple ball gowns (southern belle!). It was in an effort to nail down who was going to wear what at this year’s JBB. It was quite the spectacle after many glasses of wine 🙂

I'm thinking I won't be wearing those socks to JBB.

Pre-fashion show.

So, who is in for this year’s Jump Back Ball??

We survived

I woke up at 4:20 a.m. Wednesday. I’m pretty zonked out but I thought I’d share a few thoughts on the boot camp before I crashed out since some peeps seemed interested in how we liked it…

*5 a.m. is too early to workout – 5:45 is fine with me, but waking up earlier than 5 is just stupid (I had 2 hours to get ready for work, fail on my part).
*The early class was small – score (Heatha, Hal, the instructor, 2 other women and myself).
*We got our butts-kicked – which is what we signed up for.
*I would have liked more ab work – it was pretty leg heavy (holy stairs, squats & lunges).
*The class flew by since we were go-go-go the entire 45-minutes.
*There wasn’t an introduction or explanation of any of the moves which was definitely weird…almost awkward.

All-in-all it was absolutely worth the $25 LivingSocial deal for 5 classes. I’m looking forward to checking out some of the other class times and instructors!

Happy Friday, I mean Thursday! Thursday is my Friday this week. PTO FTW!

Editors Note: I woke up at 6:45 in pain. Holy Ouch I Am Sore. I guess we did a lot of core work!

Do you bootcamp?

Every time I receive an email from LivingSocial or Groupon for a bootcamp on the westside of Cleveland, I always click to learn more. Once in a while I’ll even forward the email to a few friends to see if they’re interested, too. That’s when my interests wanes and I forget about making the purchase (aka laziness sets in).

However, I finally pulled the trigger and bought last week’s LivingSocial bootcamp for Fitness Edge, which has 3 westside locations: Rocky River, Lakewood & Avon. For $25, I will get my butt handed to me 5 times. At least I have a friend to endure the pain with…it’s a good thing because we signed up for Wednesday’s 5 a.m. class. Yes, 5 a.m. That means I’ll need to wake up by 4:30 a.m. UGH.

Here’s to you, Hal! We can do this!

Sister friends!

Question: Have you ever done a boot camp series?

Happy Friday!

And the lucky winner of the Nestle Gusto machine is…

KIMI! All those tweets paid off! Congrats, girl! Email me your mailing address at dawgpndgirl@gmail.com.

Have a great weekend, friends!

‘Tis the Season!

After Dean and I had some of these on Saturday…

We went out to Avon and picked out a Christmas tree. I was determined to make this tree the brightest on the street.

Cabela was into the lights, too.

The damn thing is still not straight.

What's that??

We had some more Christmas Ales, listened to some Michael Buble Christmas tunes and this was what we came up with:

Bright enough?

We may be in the Christmas spirit due to all our decorations but that doesn’t mean I have even given shopping a thought yet. It’s only the beginning of December – I have plenty of time (ha!). I should probably hop on that baking train, too.

Have you ever decorated before Thanksgiving? It’s against my rules to do so!

I got Vitamix-ed!

Last week I had the opportunity to check out the Vitamix Factory Outlet near Great Northern Mall with a handful of CLE bloggers. We watched Chef Rocco Whalen of Fahrenheit fame whip up an absolutely delicious miso dressing to accompany seared Ahi Tuna and Vitamix’s in-house Chef Bev Schaffer create a healthy berry sorbet and an utterly decadent chocolate fondue all using the Vitamix.

Chef Bev makes a mean fondue.

Having never used a Vitamix before, I was impressed with how versatile and powerful the machine is. Before the end of the night, one lucky blogger was going to win their very own Vitamix! We were all crossing our fingers but there was only one lady who was going to hit it big…and that lady was…

ME! I am so grateful for winning this early Christmas present. I hope I didn’t rub it in too badly to my friends at the store (I can’t blame them if they wanted to maybe slap me – I was pumped!).

I’m looking forward to making homemade salad dressings, dips, breakfast smoothies, peanut butters and of course a blended cocktail or two with our reconditioned Vitamix!

Thanks a billion to Vitamix for the invite, the to-go goodie bags & our very own miso from Chef Rocco! We drizzled our miso over pan-friend chicked breasts – yum!

If you want to purchase a Vitamix as a holiday gift, check out the Factory Outlet store in North Olmsted – you can purchase brand new machines, reconditioned machines and see Vitamix demonstrations!

The store is open 7 days a week:
Vitamix Factory Outlet
4720 Great Northern Blvd.
North Olmsted, Ohio 44070

Did you know the Vitamix machines are made locally in Olmsted Falls? Go and support the local economy this year, people!!

Don’t forget you still have time to win a Nestle Dolce Gusto!

Win a Nestle Dolce Gusto!

Chef Jonathan Sawyer.

Back in September I attended an amazing ‘foodie’ event at The Greenhouse Tavernput on by Nestle Dolce Gusto. All in attendance were lucky enough to be sent their very own machine a few weeks later!

This machine is perfect for the gormet coffee lover- you can make esspresso, lattes, tea, cider…you name it!

You can enter to win the above Titanium model by simply:

1. Posting a comment telling me your favorite coffee drink.

2. Tweet the following message: I want to win a Dolce Gusto machine from @dawgpndgirl & @DolceGustoUS #DolceGustoFTW http://bit.ly/sYnwbV!
(Be sure to post a comment letting me know you tweeted.)

You can post one comment and one tweet per day. I will randomly select a winner on Friday, December 9, 2011. Winners will be notified and need to provide me with their mailing address to receive the machine.

Good luck!

A Thankful Weekend

Why do long weekends always fly by so quickly? Probably because I like to jam them full of awesome days and nights. This long Thanksgiving weekend was no exception.

Wednesday night, since some of my closest friends were back in town, we decided to throw a little shindig at our place (beats going to the bars on the busiest bar night of the year!).

Kitchen party!

Garage party!

This usually happens around midnight when we have people over…

Pushup party!

Thursday was full of lots of laughs (maybe some tears), food and a wine coma.

My mama, Heather, moi & my cuz.

THE BABY!

i haz 'tater skillz

Considering we were in bed by 8pm on Thanksgiving, we decided to take advantage of some of the Black Friday deals at Crocker Park. I have to admit, it wasn’t that annoying up there! Since I didn’t exactly shop local on Friday, I made up for it by buying my bro some goodies at the Cleveland Clothing Company on East 4th – it was only their second day open – go check them out immediately!

Just helping the local economy, folks!

As if we hadn’t been indulging and partying enough, my brother happened to be home for his 21st birthday. What is a sister to do? I had to take him out for (a few too many) cocktails! But first, we ate.

The birthday boy and his pretty lady friend.

The fact that my little brother is 21 makes me feel like a dinosaur.

By the time Sunday rolled around, I was stuffed to the gills…but we still had Dean’s family Thanksgiving to attend. That being said…I’ll be at the gym this week 🙂

So, do you go out to the bars on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving or do you stay the heck out of dodge?? After this year, I’m going to try my best to avoid them at all costs!
